Sisters Raquel Rivera and María Luz Rivera, members of this violin and piano Duet, are promoting Spanish Classical Music, with special regard not only to contemporary music, but also to a traditional Classical repertoire. Founded in the year 2000, as a complementary activity to their individual careers, the Rivera Duet has performed many pieces by Spanish composers, classical and contemporary, in numerous concerts across Spain, Europe, the Americas and Asia.
At the moment, the Rivera Duet is developing several musical projects, focused mainly on classical and contemporary Spanish music for piano and violin, and especially Galician production, in relation to European Classical Music. On the one hand, this Duet has performed pieces by some of the less known Spanish composers, recovering their work and promoting it worldwide. But the Rivera Duet has also worked on other interdisciplinary projects, joining music with other arts, in hommage to some key figures of Spanish repertoire.
The international premiere of this duet took place in a tournee in France –Paris, (Les Invalides), Lyon (Jean Moulin University), Toulouse (Cervantes Institute)– in 2004. Since then, María Luz Rivera and Raquel Rivera have performed in several Spanish and European auditoria, increasing their repertoire. Among their last international appearances together, let us mention their concerts in Mexico, a tribute to Isaac Albéniz on his centennial anniversary.. On this web page you will find information on the career, repertoire and projects of the Rivera Duet. Please see last activities, announcements and next events on the blog, frequently updated.
